Resident Seal

There is a Cape fur seal who is a permanent resident of the harbour. She is blind, and relies on handouts of fish from the fishing boats. She is quite entertaining as she wallows around waiting for breakfast.

I've always seen her in the harbour when I used to go there with my tour groups. Never knew she was bling though. See, even tour guides learn new things every day.

Firefly, at one time there were 2 of them, the big guy was also blind, but when we were there at the beginning of last year he was lying on the rocks of the breakwater looking very sick. We reported it to the Ajubitas Rescue Centre, and next time we went he was gone, no idea what happened to him but fear the worst!

Anonymous, That is a very broad question which would take forever to answer, like all places it has its pros and cons. For us the pros outweigh the cons, but some people do find the crime a bit hectic. As far as St Francis is concerned, it would take us volumes to tell you how cool this place is, but then we are biased because we are seriously in love with it, in all types of weather. It has a stunning climate, casual atmosphere, incredible views in all directions, wildlife, amazing vegetation, wonderful surfing spots, wide pristine beaches, rock fishing, whales and dolphins.... all depends what you like!
